Ford Vehicle

Filed under: music michael @ 11:30 am I spied a Ford Focus the other day and was instantly reminded of the God-awful product placement ads we all had to endure through the first season of American Idol . Remember how absolutely cheesy they were? And to think that it would all culminate with the unfortunate From Justin To Kelly film. Eek. Anyways, this year s top two finalists for the wildly popular American Idol competition will each receive a Ford Escape Hybrid SUV.

While Ford has historically remained low-key with the promotion of their green vehicle (read: one only), they re ramping up the talk this year. Unfortunately, supplies for the Escape Hybrid remain tight, prompting one commenter on ABG to say You have a better chance of finding a unicorn in your shower tomorrow than walking onto a Ford lot and finding a Hybrid. Well said.

While I tend to think of Hybrid SUVs as more an option of necessity only (does one person really need an SUV?), I am happy to see more high-profile events plug the smaller classes of these vehicles. The Escape may be a practical option for many families something I do not believe the Chevy Yukon Hybrid (hitting the red carpet tonight at the Oscars ) qualifies for.
