Ford Focus ST for sports fans

Cologne, Germany - Weeks after presenting the face-lifted Ford Focus at the Frankfurt Motor Show the manufacturer has disclosed details of the sporty ST five-cylinder turbo version. Available in European showrooms in early 2008, the Ford Focus ST is powered by a 166 kW/225 hp five-cylinder turbocharged motor that accelerates zero to 100 kp/h in 6.8 seconds.

The shark-styled front grille section takes some styling cues from the Mondeo but the flanks are accentuated by sporty lines with modified wheel arches for the 18-inch alloys. In contrast to the standard version the ST comes with a leather steering in ST-design, surfaces in a carbon look, a dark roof and aluminium pedals. Some changes have also been made to the chassis such as modified McPherson struts trimmed to high performance, larger disc brakes and an electro-hydraulic power steering.

ESP (electronic stability programme) is standard.
